What's Diegetic sound
Diegetic sounds is a visible sound that is in all films an example of diegetic sound is the sound of the characters, sounds made by different objects in the film and music and instruments in the film. Diegetic sound can also be either on screen or off screen depending on whatever its source is within the frame or outside the frame.
What's Non-Diegetic sound
Non diegetic sound is a sound that is not in the film and the characters cant hear but the audience can. We mostly find Non diegetic sound in horror films where y hear intense music that comes on the scary bit of the film.
Parallel sound
Parallel sounds are used to mostly match up to a scene for example in a horror film a scream will match the scene.
Contrapuntal sound
Contrapuntal sound is the opposite of parallel sound it something that does not match a scene for example if they were playing rock music on a scary part of the film.
